the company’s history

  • GREATECH GmbH was founded on the 4th of June 2003 in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The first offices were located on the former Philips factory premises in Krefeld, Lynn. The company started with the development of wireless systems for consumers and professionals.

  • The designs for wireless audio systems lead to first reference customers like the German speaker manufacturer Canton® and a part of the electronics inside the Geneva Sound Systems®, which has won numerous design awards. GREATECH established its own brand for wireless audio systems based on chips from Eleven Engineering Inc. from Canada. The chips became known in the 2010s under the name SKAA®.

  • The company manufactures a product line for wireless audio systems, among other things, which becomes better known under the name Syncronice®. A company member won the PlusX® Young Innovator Award for the ambitions in the field of wireless audio systems, which, thanks to modern frequency hopping technology, are suitable for both private and professional users, in contrast to systems based on BLE or WiFi.

  • GREATECH establishes the sensor product line Sensoco® which stands for Wireless Sensors & Co. that unites all wireless sensor products of the company.

  • The team becomes official German Channel Partner of Sigfox®, under the IoT-network of the same name, products can be connected over long distances using narrowband radio. Contrary to many critics, Sigfox® has proven to be the best possible technology for some areas of application.

  • Together with Sigfox®, GREATECH organised the first official Sigfox® workshops in Düsseldorf and Bochum, including business and technology sessions.

  • GREATECH has been nominated for the Telematik Award® 2017 for electronic systems which are compatible with the physical Sigfox® network.

  • The development team designs electronic systems for startups for IoT applications.

  • The team designs and manufactures its own satellite gateways for the Swarm nano-satellite network of which several dozen kilometers off the coast have been installed at measuring stations in the open sea.

  • Swarm Technologies Inc. was bought by a renowned manufacturer of reusable rockets.

  • The company develops the electronic components for an early warning system that protects municipalities, cities and infrastructure from heavy rainfall and water damage. Several hundred systems are installed in several German cities to usefully supplement the data from weather services.

  • As part of a three-year project, GREATECH is working successfully with partners on their first project with DLR (Projektträger der deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtbehörde) for rural IoT applications. As part of the project, products for the Internet of Things are being evolved in painstaking detail work.

  • First reference designs for sustainable IoT solutions with solar operation within buildings are being presented by Epishine® and E-Peas®.
